3 Logan Buildings Up for Sale

It’s no secret that issues of gentrification within Logan Square and Humboldt Park have risen since the completion of The 606. And with a bustling neighborhood like Logan, where new buildings are cropping up every few months, building and rent prices have increased immensely. This may be the reason behind why the owners of 3 buildings at the 2700 block of North Milwaukee are putting them up for sale after having own them for the last 3o years. The building could bring in bids of $30 million or more, explains Keely Polczynski,the lead broker for the listing.

The Native: New Bar Opens in Logan Square Tomorrow

The Native will be replacing Bonny’s, a late-night bar that closed back in 2012, and is scheduled to make its debut opening tomorrow. According to the bar’s hubby and wife duo, Carly and Jared Savvochi, they drew inspiration from Bonny’s, and didn’t want to stray far away from the concept too much.

“I don’t want to drive people away thinking it’s some gazilionare coming in doing another concept bar. I’m trying to sort of keep it what it was,” Jared Savocchi has said.

The bar will feature a cocktail menu for $10, 10 beers on tap from local breweries, and an outdoor patio. Click here to read more about The Native.

Sports Club Coming to Logan Square

Sports club is not a phrase heard often, if at all, but that is exactly what chef Dave Nalezny (Luxbar) is trying to build in Logan Square. Instead of a sports bar, which has a very specific vibe, he wants to build a sports club that has great food but is still a place where people can come to watch sports.

The club will be fittingly called Park & Field at 3509 W. Fullerton and should be opening within weeks. “The menu centers on elevated sports bar food, such as Buffalo chicken nuggets and chili made with skirt steak. Other highlights include a kung pao chicken sandwich and filet chop appetizer. Nalezny is working on the venue with this wife, Kitty Izzo, an event planner,” says this article in Chicago News Today. The thing that makes this bar/club unique? It will have bocce courts!

Housing Prices Rising Along 606

Talk of the construction of what is now known as The 606 has been fluttering about for about a decade now, but no one could have predicted the true outcomes, both good and bad, completion of the trail would bring.

According to this article in the Chicago Tribune,

“Single-family home prices there [along the trail] have increased 48.2 percent since The 606’s groundbreaking in the third quarter of 2013, according to a report set to be released Tuesday by the Institute for Housing Studies at DePaul University.”

As you can tell, if you’re looking to buy and flip, this is the perfect place and time to do it, as homes are being sold for quite a bit more than they were originally bought for.
