You know that beautiful red-bricked church you see every time you circle the eagle statue in Logan Square? I bet many of you, like myself, didn’t know that it is one of only two churches in America where Norwegian is the primary language spoken. The building at 2614 N Kedzie Avenue is actually known as the Minnekirken and is a Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church.
On Thursday–the church which has been standing since 1906– had the stained-glass windows above the entrance replaced (they had been covered in plexiglass before) to give it back its original historic look. Logan Square Preservationists raised $5,000 for the project.
