
The old manufacturing building skimming along the border of Logan Square and Bucktown at 2435 N. Western has had many offers to become…well, something, in the last few years, all of which have fallen through. Developer Paul Dukach would like to construct a 36-unit development in the old factory’s place.
The main concern for members of the neighboring community revolves around the building’s height, parking, and traffic issues. The little niche that the building is nestled in is by far, one of the most congested areas during rush hour and erecting a development there will likely make it worse.
Alderman Joe Moreno says that although the traffic concerns are legitimate, the pros for why the abandoned corridor should be occupied heavily outweigh the cons. It would also bring in more tax dollars that Chicago is in desperate need of.
