If you were in Logan Square yesterday enjoying the faux snow from the movie being made on the corner of Milwaukee and Fullerton for Amazon, then odds are you smelled the odor of rubber rising from the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
The two-block long Buyers Flea Market on Division Street caught on fire yesterday around 9:30am and burned on through the night. The market was a hot spot in the community that many people within the area and elsewhere came to for items that were more reasonably priced and many of them had been going there for years.
The cause of the fire is unknown as of now but it seems that none of the vendors had any insurance for their shops, which is a big loss in terms of merchandise but also a big loss because all of them are now out of a job.
My thoughts are with the people and their families and I sincerely hope that they can get something for their losses. At least no one was hurt.
