A new speed camera was installed this week at 1750 N. Pulaski road and although it seems Alderman Roberto Maldonado of the 26th ward cant’ stop what he calls the “money grab” machines, he is pushing for something that will help drivers out.

Yesterday at the City Counsel meeting, the alderman proposed adding three signs warning oncoming traffic of the automated cameras up ahead.

Children and adults alike in Flint, Michigan have been impacted by the high levels of lead in their drinking water. And although many people and organizations are sending their prayers and doing their parts in providing them with clean and safe water, Alberto Che Guevara of Chicago thought that it was time that he did something too.

He along with a group of artists and musicians are organizing The Water for Flint Event which will be held at The Black Couch at 4200 W Diversey at 9 PM this Saturday. They will raise money and water, have live art, body painting, and a band playing for the event.

Trinidad Garcia, who is a pro-boxer that grew up in Albany Park, is partnering up with his trainee Yuri Polyak to open up a boxing gym in Logan Square at 2764 N. Milwaukee. Garcia fights to help kids in Chicago who–like his son Jesiah– are autistic.

Unanimous Boxing Gym will be open to all, so you don’t have to be a professional boxer in order to go there. Parents can also bring their kids there because they will be holding classes once a week for special needs kids. They are expected to open late this summer.
