Another historic church is closing, according to this dnainfo article by Paul Biasco. The Episcopal Church of the Advent on Logan Boulevard is closing due to lack of funds and because only about 20 people still attend the church that once provided service to hundreds.
The really interesting thing about the 115-year-old church is that it is LGBT-friendly which is a rare anywhere, let alone in Chicago. They also ran homeless ministries out of the church which they received complaints about over the years.
The church is an interesting part of Logan Square’s history and it will be missed. Their last service will he held this Sunday.
